My news in English

Here are some of my news also in English. It is, of course, so much easier for me to write in Finnish, so even though I had good plans to write regularly also in English, I haven't done that...

After leaving Redcliffe college I have lived in a town of Sastamala, which is a small town, in the western part of Finland. I spent the Christmas time with my family and I saw all my brothers and sisters and their families, which was really nice. They all live quite near here so we see each other more now.

We had a weird winter: the weather was changing often: couple of days it was freezing cold and then suddenly  we got plus degrees.

Picture taken on 26th December. There is a stream in this part of the lake so it doesn't freeze.

I've been studying (writing my thesis) and been in the church. I've been singing in the church choir, which is fun.

I also made couple of trips by train. I went to Joensuu, where I used to study and live, and to  Helsinki. There are good theological libraries in those cities so I was studying and meeting my friends.

Railwaystation in Joensuu. The journey from Joensuu to Sastamala takes about 6 hrs by train

My Wycliffe membership process has also got forward. I went to the psychological test and I got approval which means that I should gain the membership on August.
I still don't know where I'm going but most likely I will be able to go in the beginning of the next year. It depends a bit how I'm able to progress with my thesis.

Smal selection of books that I study :)

Summer has finally come to Finland. :) June was colder than a normal summer. I have been writing. I also went to traditional midsummer conference of the pentecostal churches of Finland. I was representing Wycliffe there, with others of course. :) But it was fun, even though tehe weather was quite rainy and not so warm.

My apartment has big windows so I had to buy eye pads to be able to sleep properly. (We have the midnight sun -thing in here so it doesn't really get dark during the night.)

I'm planning to go to Helsinki again next week, I got some cheap train tickets. I'll study again in the theological library and meet some friends as well.

A springly photo: Birches were just getting some green in May.
